The Abyei Region of Sudan

Following up from the previous post on the Sudan Referendum, The New York Times has an article on Abyei and the difficulties this region poses for drawing a new border between North and South Sudan.  The article is accompanied with some really useful maps, focusing on the uneven geographies of resources like oil, the diverse languages spoken in Sudan, and different religions as well.
